Server Consolidation and Increased Computing Power
- When you buy and install computing infrastructure, about 70% of the resources go to handling and maintenance. With the technological capabilities available today, there is no logical reason to invest in infrastructure when you can let experts do it for you – just as you pay for other services. Instead of investing in your own infrastructure, DNS Cloud offers you the advanced cloud computing solution with managed, flexible and secure infrastructure.
- What do you gain?
- Peace of mind from dealing with infrastructure handling and maintenance.
- Net savings of time and resources that can be devoted to growing the business.
- Broad system flexibility that can be adapted to your changing needs at any moment.
- When we talk about "system flexibility", it is important to note that this actually depends on the technical level of the system and on the service provider.
Expanding Computing Power
- At first, you can increase the power and capacity of the base server by adding CPU cores, RAM and disk space. These are of course limited by the infrastructure and hardware characteristics.
- However, when significant computing power is needed, the only way is to add basic computing units (VPS) in parallel, i.e. adding cloud servers. Adding computing units significantly increases the ability to grow computing power, and this way you can also spread across several cloud systems and data centers in different geographic locations.
Load Balancing
- When increasing computing power by adding computing units, a server consolidation mechanism with load regulation is needed to distribute the load between the servers. The main and most efficient mechanism used for this is Load Balancing.
Server Consolidation
- This mechanism is suitable for popular websites with extensive online and business activity that require especially high availability and accessibility. Such websites cannot afford "traffic jams" that slow down or stop activity, so it is recommended to build a distributed cloud system for them across several servers, ensuring unprecedented reliability, stability and accessibility.
- Such a system ensures maximum website availability through continuous operation of the servers and smart traffic routing between them.
- With this mechanism, traffic is directed to a single IP address (VIP) and routed to several servers according to load and availability at any given moment. For example, if one of the servers is unavailable, it is automatically disconnected and receives no traffic – only the active servers do. Visitors are directed to different cloud server clusters depending on the system load, which changes from moment to moment. In other words, in case of pressure due to excess visitors or an accessibility problem on a server, the regulation mechanism directs users to less busy servers – a kind of "bypass surgery" when arteries are blocked.
Cloud Computing at DNS Cloud
- The cloud system with load balancing is managed by DNS Cloud and uses its own data center infrastructure. The routing infrastructure between the servers is based on smart hardware switches
